Mold can begin growing within 24–48 hours of a water loss. Fast, complete drying is what stops it.
Why Mold Follows Water Damage
Mold spores are already present in every home. They're dormant until moisture activates them. Water inside wall framing, subfloor sheathing, and drywall — even after visible standing water is gone — provides exactly the conditions mold needs. At the right temperature and moisture level, growth starts in as little as 24 hours. By 48–72 hours, colonies can be established inside materials you can't see.
What We Do
The clock starts when water contacts building materials. The faster we extract standing water, the smaller the window for mold to take hold. We dispatch same day, any hour.
Extraction removes visible water. Structural drying removes the moisture trapped inside materials. We use commercial LGR dehumidifiers and air movers and monitor daily until every affected material reaches dry standard — the point at which mold cannot sustain growth.
We take moisture readings at every affected surface each day. "Looks dry" is not a standard — readings have to hit target levels. Pulling equipment too early is one of the most common ways mold problems develop after a water loss.
If mold growth was already established before drying started — from a slow leak, delayed response, or a loss that went undetected — mold remediation requires a licensed contractor. We do not perform mold remediation ourselves, but we can refer you to licensed mold contractors in Kern County. What we handle is the moisture source: drying the structure to stop further growth and prepare the area for remediation.
What Increases the Risk
Water sitting for more than 24–48 hours before drying starts dramatically increases mold risk, especially in warm conditions like Bakersfield summers.
Water that migrates into walls, under flooring, or into ceiling cavities without detection. It dries on the surface but stays wet inside.
Equipment pulled before materials reach dry standard leaves residual moisture in framing and sheathing — enough for mold to activate weeks later.
Sewage-contaminated water introduces additional organic material that accelerates mold growth in affected materials.
The faster we start, the smaller the mold risk. We answer any hour and get on-site same day.
Equipment doesn't come out until moisture meters confirm target levels — not based on how many days have passed.
We find hidden moisture pockets that a standard meter misses. Nothing left wet inside the walls.
The protocol we follow is designed to prevent secondary damage — including mold.
